The President of the AMBM and Reeve of the Rural Municipality of La Broquerie, Mr. Ivan Normandeau, made the following statement regarding the publication of the 2023-2024 consolidated annual report of the AMBM Group:
Following the annual general meeting (AGM) of the AMBM held on November 21st, 2024, in the Rural Municipality of De Salaberry, we are very proud to announce today the publication of the 2023-2024 consolidated annual report of the AMBM Group. This year, marked by decisive advances and strong partnerships, demonstrates our unwavering commitment to the development and vitality of Manitoba’s bilingual municipalities.
Under the theme On course for growth and prosperity, we have seen emblematic initiatives come to fruition.
During this period, the total investment from federal and provincial governments in bilingual municipalities in Manitoba is estimated at $495.8 million, reflecting the recognition and strategic importance of our collective action.
One of the major milestones of this year is undoubtedly the official recognition, in March 2024, of the Municipal Maturity Model (3M) by the Manitoba government. This new regulatory framework, a first in Canada, now allows our members to enhance their delivery of services in both official languages. The renewal of the Canada-Manitoba Agreement on French Language Services (CMAFLS) 2023-2028 will support the implementation of the 3M and enable our members to better meet the needs of their Francophone and bilingual communities.
Our annual report illustrates the remarkable impact of the AMBM Group and the shared vision of a prosperous future. You will discover significant progress made in municipal infrastructure, economic development, green economy, as well as the attraction, integration, and retention of talent.
Truly, the year 2023-2024 has allowed us to reaffirm that Manitoba’s bilingual municipal leadership, the AMBM, and its subsidiaries, represent an essential engine of growth and prosperity.
We want to highlight the exceptional achievements of our subsidiaries, CDEM and Eco-West Canada, which have continued to stimulate and energize the development of our communities. These joint efforts, supported by strong partnerships, prepare us to face tomorrow’s challenges with confidence and ambition.
Together, let us stay the course to build even more attractive, welcoming, and prosperous Francophone and bilingual communities, making Manitoba a province where our official languages are a valuable asset for all citizens.
The AMBM is the voice of bilingual municipal leadership in the province of Manitoba. It represents 16 local governments committed to providing services in both official languages to their citizens. Together, these municipalities represent the majority of Manitoba’s population. Manitoba’s bilingual municipal leadership is also at the helm of the AMBM Group, a consortium that brings together three organizations with complementary missions: the AMBM, the Economic Development Council for Manitoba Bilingual Municipalities (Conseil de développement économique des municipalités bilingues du Manitoba, or CDEM), and Eco-West Canada (EWC), which specializes in the green economy. Complementary, these three organizations actively contribute to the development, vitality, and sustainability of the province’s Official Language Minority Communities (OLMCs).
