AMBM President Ivan Normandeau issued this statement following the announcement of a new partnership with the Association of Manitoba Municipalities (AMM) for the upcoming municipal election:

Thanks to the collaboration with the AMM, Manitobans will be able to follow the municipal election results live and learn about the candidates in the official language of their choice at www.MBvotes.ca on October 26th. A first in our province.

Bilingualism is one of the fundamental values of our members and our association. Through this investment by the AMBM in the French translation of the AMM’s municipal election web platform, our associations aim to maximize citizen participation in the fall election process.

In addition to supporting the practice of a healthy democracy, this partnership strengthens the delivery of municipal services in both official languages across the province.

I want to thank the AMM for its openness to teaming up on impactful issues like this one for the benefit of Manitoba’s Francophone and bilingual communities. I appreciate the strong bond of trust between our two associations and look forward to continued, mutually beneficial collaborations in the long term.
