The President of the AMBM and Reeve of the Rural Municipality of La Broquerie, Mr. Ivan Normandeau, issued the following joint statement with Mr. Yvan St. Vincent, Mayor of the Town of Ste. Anne, regarding the announcement by Clearview Co-op of the construction of a new grocery store that will open in this municipality in 2024 :

The construction of this new grocery store is a major economic development project that will not only benefit the growth of Ste. Anne, but also the quality of life in this bilingual rural municipality and the ability to attract new families.

Already, the Town of Ste. Anne is experiencing promising development, in keeping with its motto “Proud Past, Prosperous Future”: its population has increased by almost 37% between 2016 and 2021, ranking it first among bilingual municipalities in Manitoba and well above the provincial average of 5%. Ste. Anne is known as a welcoming place to live, work and play. This visionary project, which will make the municipality an even more attractive place for immigrant families, is fully in line with the objectives of the Strategy to Support Economic Immigration in Manitoba’s Bilingual Municipalities, recently launched by the AMBM.

The construction of this new grocery store will have an impact not only on Ste. Anne but on the entire region. An initiative such as this, which focuses on the local community, bilingual municipal development and job creation, is closely aligned with our Municipal Economic Recovery Strategy and will benefit all Francophone and bilingual communities. The cooperative movement, which values and supports local farmers and producers, is a natural ally of this strategy.

All Francophone and bilingual communities join the Town of Ste. Anne in congratulating Clearview Co-op on this strategic and innovative investment that will generate significant social and economic development results.
