AMBM President Ivan Normandeau issued the following statement regarding the 2021 Budget unveiled by the Province of Manitoba on April 7, 2021:

The AMBM supports the initiatives in Budget 2021 to protect our citizens and to support municipalities that are facing significant financial and economic challenges in this time of pandemic.

The investment of $1.2 million for the Green and Climate Plan Implementation Office. 2.1 billion for strategic infrastructure. Strong support for job creation and economic growth in Manitoba.

These are all indications laying the groundwork for a Province-AMBM partnership to deliver on the priorities of Manitoba’s bilingual municipal leadership in its bold 2021-2024 Municipal Economic Recovery Strategy.

The AMBM is now seeking a stronger commitment to direct support for building strong and resilient bilingual communities together through targeted and transformative investments.
