The Vice-President of the AMBM and Mayor of the Village of St. Pierre-Jolys, Mr. Raymond Maynard, issued the following statement on the occasion of the International Day of La Francophonie 2023 in Manitoba:

As part of the International Day of La Francophonie (March 20), the AMBM was proud to participate in the raising of the Franco-Manitoban flag at both the Legislative Building and Winnipeg City Hall.

Manitoba’s bilingual municipal leadership joins the provincial and federal governments in marking an important day that celebrates Canada’s rural and urban Francophonie, which is as thriving and vibrant as ever.

The AMBM works in conjunction with local governments. This community-municipal partnership is a key element for the organization and its members in the development of a united and diverse Francophonie.

Our inclusive language approach recognizes the added value of French in the strength of official bilingualism. To this end, the AMBM takes concrete action to build bilingual and Francophone communities by offering tools to improve municipal services in both official languages and thus contribute to a better quality of life for its communities.

On behalf of the AMBM and our partners, I would like to wish everyone an excellent International Day of La Francophonie.
